“40 Days of Prayer and Prayerful Action”

As the Uniting Church in Australia we are invited to participate in 40 days of prayer and prayerful action!! We will pray for the church, for our own ‘following’ of Jesus, and will be invited to take simple actions of participating in God’s mission. Discipleship is made of ‘practices’ of our faith to make the world a better place. You can follow the suggested prayers and prayerful actions here

Uniting Church Triennial Assembly

The Uniting Church in Australia was created from a vision of God’s call for greater unity, not just across churches but the whole nation (at a time of change in the 1950/60s)!! The ‘Basis of Union’ describes this way forward for any who might join the journey. More a movement than a denomination. The Uniting Church is “a pilgrim people, on the way to a promised goal.” Shaped by Scripture as ‘unique, prophetic & apostolic’  we hear God’s word and the presence of Jesus ‘when preached’ looking for God’s invitation to engage in God’s mission in the world. We are a justice oriented multi cultural church engaging in our context. From time to time we wrestle with issues like leadership & sexuality and now after some 20-30 years of consideration we explore the issue of same gender marriage. Our Assembly Doctrine Working Group will bring a Report and Proposal/s to our triennial National Assembly in July 2018. The Report and Proposals are here

Readers can follow our work for the ‘common good’, pick up worship themes, read important articles or find invitations to get involved in making the world a better place.

Church and Community

God’s mission in the world is the reconciliation and renewal of the whole of creation. The church is a community of followers of Jesus in one place, exploring how they are invited to participate in God’s mission. Attributed to many different writers is the catchphrase “It is not the church of God that has a mission in the world but the God of mission who has a church in the world.”
